19 Gujarati tourists killed
Bus falls into gorge in Dharamsala

Dharamsala, June 21
As many as 19 persons were killed and 20 others injured when a private bus, they were travelling in, fell into a gorge here around 12:30 am today. Almost all passengers were either BSNL employees or their family members from Vadodara in Gujarat.

13 die as heatwave tightens grip
Chandigarh, June 21
Despite a minor drop of one or two degrees in the maximum temperature today, the heat wave continued unabated in the North West region claiming 13 more lives. Official reports here had reported 13 more deaths due to sun stroke, dehydration or heat wave-related incidents in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh since yesterday.

Protests mark Amarnath yatra

Jammu, June 21
More than 200 pilgrims today left for the Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir, marking the beginning of the pilgrimage. The pilgrims left in 10 vehicles this morning from Jammu for their onward journey via the Baltal route, official sources said.

Roadmap on Siachen given to govt, says Army chief
New Delhi, June 21
With Prime Minister Manmohan Singh having expressed his desire recently to convert the world’s highest battlefield, the Siachen glacier, into a mountain of peace, the Army today said it had already forwarded a roadmap to the government to this effect.

No POTA case against Godhra accused : panel
New Delhi, June 21
The Special Public Prosecutor has placed before the Special Court in Gujarat the “opinion” of the POTA review committee, which says that “there is no prima facie ground for proceeding against the accused” in the Godhra train massacre case. (Details story on Nation page)

Divorce: husband can’t withdraw consent once given
New Delhi, June 21
Adding a new twist to consensual divorces, the Delhi High Court has ruled that no husband can unilaterally withdraw consent for such a divorce which he had given to settle dowry complaint cases instituted against him by his erstwhile wife.
