Chandigarh, June 14
The DGP (Rules), Haryana, Mr Mohinder Singh Malik, was today put under suspension by the state government for his role in the alleged irregularities taking place in raising the Haryana State Industrial Security Force (HSISF). As many as 3,500 persons were recruited in the HSISF in violation of the statutory provisions laid down in the Act that paved the way for setting up of the HSISF. The Act, which was passed by the previous Chautala-led regime, said the HSISF should have a DGP as well as an ADGP to oversee the recruitment of its personnel. However, the same government recruited the personnel in total disregard to procedures mentioned in the Act.
Eventually, the Hooda government had to disband the force as it was also found that contrary to the previous government’s formulations, there was none in either industry or other commercial organisations, interested in the deployment of the force on their premises for security purposes.
Mr Malik, an IPS officer of the 1969 batch, who was appointed DGP by the Chautala regime on December 5, 2000, was posted as DGP (Rules) after the Congress formed the
government in Haryana.
Mr Malik came under cloud during the Lok Sabha elections last year when his wife, Ms Krishna Malik, contested from Sonepat on the ticket of the INLD. He was transferred from the DGP’s post by the Election Commission, following complaints by Opposition parties, who raised questions about Mr Malik’s impartiality in view of his wife’s candidature.
