Sahara sacks former Patna DM Goswami

Patna, June 9
Former Patna District Magistrate Gautam Goswami, who is evading arrest in the flood relief scam, suffered another setback with Sahara India Parivar dismissing him as its senior vice-president following the Vigilance Bureau’s threat to take legal action against it.

“Services of Goswami, who joined as senior vice-president of the company in January, have been terminated with effect from June 6,” company sources said here today.

Goswami’s lawyer Tuhin Shankar also confirmed the company’s action sacking him.

“Goswami has failed to submit the necessary papers as yet to meet the organisational requirement which had led to termination of his services,” was the one-line reason assigned by the company.

The designated vigilance Judge J.M. Prasad had on Monday dismissed Goswami’s anticipatory bail application in the scam case relating to embezzlement of over Rs 17 crore meant for providing flood relief in Bihar in 2004.

Shankar said he would move the Patna High Court on Monday next against the order of the designated CBI judge dismissing his client’s appeal for anticipatory bail.— PTI
