SEBs unbundling delayed

To avoid a showdown on the eve of UPA anniversary bash and soaring mercury, the government today extended by six months the date of unbundling state electricity boards.

After a three-hour-long meeting with Left leaders including CPI General Secretary A B Bardhan, Union Power Minister P M Sayeed agreed that the implementation of the Electricity Act relating to SEBs’ unbundling would be extended for six months, an official release said.
