KBC to be back on small screen

Mumabi, May 15
‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ (KBC), the Amitabh Bachchan-hosted quiz show on Star TV that had soared on the popularity charts, will be back on the small screen along with its superstar anchor and enhanced prize money and some value additions from August 5.

The 85-episode show will be telecast for three days a week, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and the programme would continue till February 2006. The entries for the programme are expected to begin on June 6.

The first promo of KBC is scheduled to go on air tomorrow at 9 pm across all Star channels. There has been speculation that the popular show will be back again ever since it went off air in January 2002 after running for almost one-and-half years.

According to producer-director Siddhartha Basu, “KBC 2 will have Mr Bachchan in a more enhanced role. He has appeared in several films post-KBC and the viewers are not tied down with any particular image of him. There will be more experiments and variety in his role as quizmaster.” — UNI
