NDA MPs to decide on House boycott

New Delhi, May 1
National Democratic Alliance leaders today decided to leave to the NDA Members of Parliament the decision on whether to continue the boycott of Parliament tomorrow.

The NDA leaders, who met at the residence of Leader of the Opposition L.K. Advani this evening for over one and a half hours, made a detailed assessment of the situation but took no decision.

“It is better to assess the mood of the MPs and a decision be taken in the presence of NDA Chairman Atal Bihari Vajpayee,” BJP spokesperson Sushma Swaraj told newspersons after the meeting.

Declining to state the nature of discussions the leaders had during the meeting, Mrs Swaraj said in the presence of NDA convener George Fernandes that no decision had been taken. However, the discussion among the leaders was an ‘internal matter’, she said.

A meeting of NDA MPs will now be held under the chairmanship of Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Parliament Annexe.

The indications so far are that the Opposition may end the boycott and take part in the proceedings of Parliament, which is set to pass the Budget tomorrow. — UNI
