Chandigarh, April 30
The Haryana Finance Minister, Mr Birender Singh, today announced an increase in the rate of dearness allowance (DA) of state government employees from 14 per cent to 17 per cent of the pay with effect from January 1.
The arrears for the January 1- April 30 period, on account of the enhancement in the DA, would be credited to the General Provident Fund accounts of the employees. The DA due from May 1 onward would be paid in cash.
The hike in the DA involved a liability of Rs 113.54 crore on the state exchequer during the current financial year.
The Finance Minister said that for the employees who had opted to retain the pre-revised scales, the earlier provisions would continue to be applicable while regulating their DA.
