Hurriyat leaders arrive for talks with Pervez New Delhi, April 16 The APHC, led by Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, will urge General Musharraf to “involve Kashmiris” in the ongoing peace process between India and Pakistan. Mirwaiz Umer Farooq said here the peace process will not be complete without the involvement of Kashmiris. Talking to The Tribune, he said the APHC would urge General Musharraf to impress on the host government to include Kashmiris in the peace process. The APHC will also raise its earlier demand of permission for travel to the other side of the LoC. The Mirwaiz said the conglomerate had ideas for resolution of the Kashmir issue but it would disclose these “after talking to political leaders on the other side of Kashmir and to the militant leadership there.” He said the Hurriyat
approved of Paksitan’s policies on Kashmir, including the confidence building measures (CBMs) with India. However, he said CBMs were only humanitarian steps which would not lead to political resolution of the Kashmir problem. He said any suggestion which speaks of converting the LoC into a border will not be acceptable to the Hurriyat. “The LoC is a line drawn on the hearts of Kashmiris,” he said. |
