PM opens Udhampur rail link
today Jammu, April 12 This is the second visit of the Prime Minister to Jammu and Kashmir within a week. Earlier, he flagged off the bus service between Srinagar and Mazaffarabad. The rail link has been built at a cost of Rs 600 crore and is an engineering marvel as it passes through a challenging terrain of mountains, deep gorges and rivers. The foundation of the project was laid in 1983 by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The rail link has the longest tunnel of 2.5 km and the highest bridge of 77 metres on the Gambhir nullah. |
