CM announces memorials to Surender Singh,
Jindal Chandigarh, April 2 This was stated by the Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, shortly after a meeting of the Council of Ministers here today. Mr Hooda announced an ex-gratia grant of Rs 1 lakh to next of kin of Col T.S. Chauhan (retd), pilot of the ill-fated helicopter, who also died in the mishap. The Chief Minister said a grant of Rs 1 lakh would also be given to Mr Venod Yadav, personal security officer of Mr Jindal, who was seriously injured in the mishap. Earlier, the council, which met under the chairmanship of Mr Hooda, expressed shock and grief over the sudden demise of the two colleagues and the pilot. The council observed two minutes’ silence and adopted three condolence resolutions. “Mr Surender Singh was the rising star of Haryana politics. The cruel hands of death have snatched him from the people of Haryana at such a time when his services were immensely required for the state. His tragic death has shocked not only the people of Haryana but also the entire nation...”, the condolence resolution on Mr Surender Singh said. The condolence resolution regarding Mr Jindal said “despite his immense involvement in business and politics, he used to find time for religious and social work. His life as an industrialist, philanthropist and successful political personality will remain a source of inspiration not only to the people of Haryana but also to the people of India”. |
