New Delhi, April 1
Pakistan tonight rejected India’s request to allow eight top political leaders from Jammu and Kashmir to travel in the inaugural Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus on April 7.
The External Affairs Ministry communicated the Pakistan decision to the Regional Passport Officer, who is the issuing authority of travel permit from India, in Srinagar late this evening.
“The External Affairs Ministry received a communication from Pakistan denying the permission to the top eight politicians, including National Conference Omar Abdullah, PDP President Mehbooba Mufti and Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma, to travel,” he added.
He said the reason of rejecting the permission was not provided by the Pakistan government.
Besides Mr Abdullah, Ms Mufti and Mr Sharma, the list comprised National Confernce leader Abdul Rahim Rather, PDP member Rangeel Singh, JKPCC chief and Rural Development Minister Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, Panther’s Party chief Bhim Singh and CPI-M state secretary M.Y. Tarigami. —
