India TV denies news report on CDs
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, March 22
India TV Editor-in-Chief Rajat Sharma today categorically denied that the network had anything to do with the supposed CDs featuring top ministers and that it may play them at an appropriate time. He dismissed it as a canard not supported by any evidence.

In a signed statement here, Mr Sharma said that the front-page article in The Tribune today on sting operations had cast serious aspersions on India TV. It suggested that India TV had been “threatening to blow the lid on certain ministers and mainstream public figures.”

This, he said, was nothing but a figment of the imagination. “Despite clever writing, the matter assumes a clear case of imputation and injury caused to the fair name of our channel.”

Mr Sharma said that after making an elaborate case of the existence of some CDs, featuring some top ministers, created by some (unnamed) detective agency and seeking advance cover in the fact that these CDs might never see the light of the day, the reporter “has gone on to refer to our channel, not by name but the fact that we recently played out the CDs on the casting couch!”
