Nationwide bank strike today

Banking operations are likely to be hit tomorrow as unions have called a nationwide strike to protest against mergers of PSU banks and the proposed hike in FDI limit to 74 per cent in the sector.

“Employees under the banner of United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) have decided to go on a countrywide strike tomorrow opposing M&As among Indian banks and proposed hike in foreign investment up to 74 per cent in private banks,” UFBU Convener Shantha Raju told PTI on the eve of the strike. — PTI
