Arjun Munda wins trust vote
Namdhari elected as Speaker

New Delhi, March 15
Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda won the vote of confidence in the Assembly today.

As soon as the House assembled at 11.30 am after a 15-minute adjournment, the Speaker asked the Chief Minister to move the motion of confidence.

Even as Munda was reading the motion, Opposition members stormed the well shouting slogans.

As the bedlam continued, the Speaker put the motion to vote and asked the members supporting it to raise their hands.

A head count was taken and the Speaker announced that 40 members in the 81-member House were in favour of the motion. He then declared the motion passed and adjourned the House sine die.

Ranchi: NDA candidate Inder Singh Namdhari was today elected Speaker of the Jharkhand Assembly.

Namdhari was elected by voice vote amidst protests by the opposition UPA.

His name was proposed by Chief Minister Arjun Munda. — PTI
