Nitish asks Paswan to join hands with NDA

Patna, March 12
Senior JD (U) leader Nitish Kumar today said his party was “flexible to a great extent” in forming a “non-RJD” government and renewed his call to the LJP President Ramvilas Paswan to part company with the UPA at the Centre and join hands with the NDA for achieving the objective.

“People did not vote for imposition of President’s rule but to form a popular government to end RJD misrule. Mr Paswan should align with the NDA without any prejudice to help form a government,” he told a felicitation function organised for newly-elected party MLAs here.

“If we analyse the poll outcome, the LJP won in 23 out of the 29 assembly constituencies fighting a tough battle against RJD where its nominees finished a close second. It makes its clear that the LJP romped to victory on an anti-RJD plank,” he said.

Appealing to Mr Paswan to “honour the people’s verdict against the RJD misrule,” Mr Kumar said “Paswan should help in government formation for which a common minimum programme be evolved.

“The issue of who will head the new government will be amicably resolved within moments if the LJP responds positively to our call,” he said.

“I am for the first time publically making an appeal to Mr Paswan to heed to our suggestions. Otherwise, we will go to the field to make the people aware of the factual position coming in the way of government formation and we will also touch the constituencies where LJP won,” Mr Kumar said in a veiled threat to Mr Paswan. — PTI
