Haryana hikes relief for hailstorm-hit farmers by 25 pc Chandigarh, March 11 This was stated by the Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, while replying to the questions of mediapersons after the first meeting of the state Cabinet here today. He said the decision to enhance the compensation rates had been taken in the larger interest of farmers. There was a general feeling among his colleagues that the affected farmers should be given enhanced compensation. A special girdawri had been ordered. While it had already been completed in some areas, it was still in progress in the others. Compensation would be provided to affected farmers immediately after receiving all the reports of the girdawri. Mr Hooda said his Cabinet colleagues had thanked the people of Haryana and the AICC President, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, for reposing their faith in them. He said he had urged them to live up to their expectations and work like a team. He said he and his colleagues had decided that their decisions would be transparent. While taking each decision, it would be considered how much the poorest of the poor would benefit from that decision. He said the law and order situation had deteriorated during the tenure of the previous government. There was no rule of the law and no development. Now, his government would usher in a new era of prosperity in the state, he added. |
