B’desh forces continue firing to stop fencing

Agartala, March 9
Firing by the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) continued in a bid to stop the ongoing fencing works by India along the international border, four days after a flag meeting with BSF officials at Sabroom in South Tripura.

The Centre has been urged to take up the issue with Dhaka, a senior BSF official told newspersons here today.

BDR jawans opened fire near Aliamara, Kathalchari, Baishnabpur and other bordering areas under Sabroom subdivision in South Tripura on March 2 to stop the fencing works and the firing continued till yesterday.

Official sources said the flag meeting, attended by the sector commanders of the BSF and the BDR, remained inconclusive. — UNI
