New Delhi, March 5
A day after he gave the impression of being a man wronged and robbed off his due in the Chief Ministerial sweepstakes in Haryana, Mr Bhajan Lal showed no signs of bitterness today. He talked sweetly of the Congress leadership which had “denied” him the post of Chief Minister and promised to extend full cooperation to the new Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda. After a meeting with Congress President Sonia Gandhi in the afternoon, Mr Bhajan Lal also agreed to attend the swearing-in of the new Chief Minister. Mr Hooda had called on Mr Bhajan Lal this morning to seek his support in running the new government.

Interacting with mediapersons soon after, Mr Bhajan Lal said he would extend all cooperation to Mr Hooda. He said Ms Gandhi had not accepted his resignation from the post of PCC chief.

Asked about his reconciliatory mood after yesterday’s “boycott” of the CLP meeting, Mr Bhajan Lal said, “I kept up pressure till the end, but any fight can be fought up to a limit.”

The PCC chief said the decision to stay away from yesterday’s Congress Legislature Party meeting was meant to convey resentment of his supporters.

To questions about reported offers to make his son Chander Mohan, Deputy Chief Minister, Mr Bhajan Lal said he would think of such proposals if these were made to him.
