Bhajan Lal quits as PCC chief
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, March 4
Haryana PCC chief Bhajan Lal today resigned from the post in protest against the elevation of Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda as Chief Minister.

Sources said soon after the news about Mr Hooda’s election as CLP leader reached Mr Bhajan Lal, he sent his resignation to Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

Mr Bhajan Lal was at the residence of his MP son Kuldeep Bishnoi along with his loyalist MLAs when the news about the election of Mr Hooda as CLP leader reached him.

Mr Bhajan Lal’s resignation is being seen as the beginning of dissidence for the designated Chief Minister who is yet to take oath.

UNI adds: Supporters of Bhajan Lal today went on a rampage in his Adampur constituency in Hisar district.

The irate supporters damaged two Haryana Roadways buses and blocked the railway line in the town by throwing logwoods on the tracks, affecting the running of trains.

The Kisan Express running between Delhi and Bathinda was stopped at Hisar and the Hisar-Bathinda passenger train was halted at Jakhod Khera as a precautionary measure.

A majority of the shopkeepers downed their shutters.

The police said the situation in the town was now normal and the rail track had been cleared.
