Kathmandu, January 18
Two Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) guards posted at the Indian Embassy here were killed and one injured when a colleague opened fire following an “altercation” in their living quarters in the mission premises.

He said the injured guard was in stable condition in a hospital here.

Those killed have been identified as constables T Shanker and R Kannan, both hailing from Tamil Nadu.

A CISF Deputy Inspector General flew in here from Delhi to investigate the matter while constable Ravindra Rana, who allegedly opened fire, has been placed under detention in the embassy premises and would be taken to India where he will be arrested.

The Indian Embassy in a press note said the incident took place at 5:30 am in its premises in the living quarters of the security guards attached to the mission.

A full investigation into the incident is underway to ascertain all details, the not to said.

Nepal police said the incident was an “internal affair” and no outside people were involved in the shootout. — PTI
