AIADMK legislator shot dead

Tiruvallur, January 9
AIADMK MLA and former Tamil Nadu Backward Classes Minister K. Sudarsanam was shot dead early today, allegedly by a six-member armed gang at his residence in Thanakulam under the jurisdiction of Periyapalayam police station.

Police sources said Sudarsanam’s son, Satish Kumar, and his wife, Geetha, who were sleeping on the first floor of the house, suffered injuries in the attack.

The gang, which had painted their faces to conceal their identity, gained entry into the ruling party MLA’s residence around 2.30 am by breaking open a rear door after scaling the compound wall.

They placed jute bags on the wall to protect themselves from being hurt by the glass pieces implanted on it to keep off intruders.

There was no security personnel posted at his house and the gang members immediately switched off the power supply before splitting into two groups. — UNI
