Tsunami devours 9,000 in south coast
Five village islands wiped out
Chennai, December 27
As the rescue operations continued, the death toll due to Sunday’s tidal waves touched around 9,000 in Tamil Nadu, the Union Territory of Pondicherry and the Andaman and Nicobar islands.

Taking the peace process forward, India today unilaterally announced relaxation of the visa regime for Pakistani nationals above 65 years and below 12 years and extended free medical treatment to another batch of Pakistani children with serious heart ailments.
