School student involved in MMS porn case held New Delhi, December 19 The police, which had hesitated to arrest the boy because he is a minor, picked him up today, two days after Bazee.com CEO Avnish Bajaj, a US national of Indian origin, was arrested. The 17-year-old boy is the son of an exporter and is a resident of the posh Defence Colony locality of the Capital. Earlier, a student of IIT, Kharagpur, Raviraj was arrested on the charge of circulating and selling porn CDs. He had allegedly deposited the proceeds of these in his bank account. Avnish and Raviraj are in judicial custody. The DPS student was arrested by the economic offence wing of the Delhi Police which is examining the provisions of IPC and the Information Technology Act under which he can be booked. The whole issue had hit the limelight less than a month ago when pictures of the boy and the girl were circulated through multi-media service (MMS) on cell phones allegedly circulated by the boy to his friends. Later, it reached students in other schools and hit the market. Both the boy and the girl who were students of Class XII, have been expelled from the school. While the boy has joined another school in Delhi, the girl has reportedly left the country. Meanwhile, India today said it was willing to provide to the USA consular access to Baazee.com CEO Avnish Bajaj, India-born US citizen, an accused in the Delhi Public School MMS scandal case. “It is a legal process. The statement came in the wake of media reports that US Secretary of State-designate Condoleezza Rice was taking interest in the case and had instructed US Ambassador to India David Mulford to prevail upon the Indian Government to ensure Bajaj’s safety. —
