Trains diverted, Hemkunt Express cancelled

Ambala, December 14
Train traffic was thrown out of gear today following the train accident.

The trains have to run on a diverted route as the main line is affected due to the accident. Trains on the up line as well as the down line will run behind schedule due to the diversion.

The diverted route of trains will be from Jammu to Pathankot and then to Amritsar. From Amritsar, the trains will go to Jalandhar and continue on their onward journey through Ludhiana.

The down trains which have been diverted include train numbers 4034, 2404, 2472, 1412, 3152, 4646 and 1078. The up trains which have been diverted include train numbers 2471, 5087, 9337, 4045, 3151, 2403, 1077, 4035, 403 and 4609.

The Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Mr Dayal Dogra, said the Hemkunt Express (number 4609 and 4610) had been cancelled for today and tomorrow.

Mr Dogra said a helpline had been set up at Ambala and other stations. The helpline number is 1072. The same number would be operational at Bathinda, Chandigarh and Saharanpur. “A team of five doctors and nine paramedics has been rushed to the spot from Ambala,” he said.
