SC orders review of IAF promotions

In a major setback to the Indian Air Force (IAF), the Supreme Court today ordered it to re-evaluate the promotions of all six officers, including the four quashed by the Delhi High Court recently.

Over 50 per cent of the Lok Sabha members, including Leader of the Opposition L.K. Advani, Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha Charanjit Singh Atwal and Union Ministers Laloo Prasad and Sunil Dutt are yet to furnish information regarding their assets and liabilities to the Lok Sabha Secretariat.

26,000 tonnes of damaged grains in FCI godowns
New Delhi, December 13
Even as the government commenced procurement for the PDS under the new decentralised scheme, it informed the Lok Sabha that the Food Corporation of India (FCI) had 26,395 tonnes of damaged foodgrains in its godowns as on July 1 this year.

Centre may take up Kultaran murder case with Iranian envoy
Chandigarh, December 13
The Union Ministry of External Affairs may take up the case of Mr Kultaran Singh Anand, an Indian businessman, who was murdered in Teheran on August 7 last year, at the diplomatic level to ensure justice to the bereaved family.

There was an air of jubilation at Soyemajra village (Ropar) as a regular teacher finally joined at Government Elementary School in the village today. After The Tribune exposure of the teacher-less school, the Punjab Education Department today ensured that Ms Jaspal Kaur, who had proceeded on medical leave, joined duty. Ms Jaswinder Kaur had been transferred from the school in the middle of the session against the rules of the department.
