Ponty on Punjab Games committee
Ravi Dhaliwal

Patiala, November 9
Liquor baron Ponty Chadha finds himself in exalted company as his name figures along with top industrialists in the Finance and Marketing Committee of the first Indo-Pakistan Punjab Games to be held in the Chief Minister’s home town here from December 5 to 11.

Ponty Chadha had been in news for monopolising the liquor trade in the state. The excise policy for the current financial year was also allegedly tailor-made for him.

The Supreme Court and subsequently the Punjab and Haryana High Court had set aside auctions in some districts of Punjab last month. However, Ponty Chadha continues to be ‘close’ to Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and his inner Cabinet.
