Government decision on oil prices today
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, October 30
The UPA government would take a final decision on the oil prices for next fortnight on Sunday, even as the prices of the crude oil in the international market hovered around 51 dollars a barrel.

Union Petroleum Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar this evening met the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and discussed the oil price issue amidst growing pressure from the oil companies to revise the prices.

"Further consultation on the matter will be on with oil companies," Petroleum Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar told reporters after meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The oil firms are seeking a 17 per cent rise in diesel prices and a 6 per cent increase in petrol.

Petroleum prices have not been revised since July despite soaring international prices.
