Decision on fuel price hike deferred

New Delhi, October 27
The Union Cabinet today deferred a decision on increasing the retail prices of petrol and diesel as Petroleum Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar could not attend the meeting.

The Finance Minister P. Chidambaram said, “The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has deferred the decision on a package on pricing and distribution of sensitive petroleum products as the Petroleum Minister was not present.”

The Petroleum Ministry had suggested raising petrol and diesel prices within a limited price band.
