Manmohan ‘begs’ voters to strengthen Sonia’s hands

Akola (Maharashtra), October 10
Launching the Congress-NCP’s Maharashtra Assembly election campaign in the sensitive Vidarbhga region, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said he was “begging” the people of the region to strengthen the hands of Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

“I will take special care to ensure full implementation of the promises made by the Congress and its allied parties to the people of Vidarbha and Marathawada. So, brothers and sisters, today I have come to beg to you to strengthen the hands of Soniaji,” Mr Manmohan Singh told an election rally here.

The Prime Minister assured the people of Vidarbha region to personally monitor the development of the backward region during the next five years.

NANDED: The Prime Minister today accused the Opposition of not yet accepting the mandate of the Lok Sabha election and conspiring to pull down his government.

He also visited the Shri Huzur Abichalnagar Sahib here.

The shrine had been visited by Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and P.V. Narasimha Rao earlier, said Mr Laddu Singh Mahajan, chief of the Gurdwara Board Takht Sachkhand. — PTI, UNI
