CBI to probe Tehelka scam
Govt not to extend Phukan panel term
New Delhi, October 1
The UPA government has decided not to extend the term of the Justice Phukan Commission probing the Tehelka revelations in a decision that is expected to have wide repercussions in the on-going confrontation with the Opposition. The commission’s term ends on November 2.

The Election Commission today withdrew its orders of suspension and registration of a case passed against Mr Dilraj Singh Sandhawalia, former SDM-cum-Electoral Registration Officer, for Kapurthala byelections.

SGPC team to visit Nankana Sahib on Oct 5

Pakistan High Commissioner Aziz Ahmed Khan today told Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee president Bibi Jagir Kaur that the SGPC was free to send its delegation to Nankana Sahib “anytime” for on the spot assessment of the extent of damage to the historic gurdwara and visas would be given to as many delegates as the SGPC desired.

Allegedly sold off by her in-laws, Sarabjeet Kaur with her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter in Chandigarh on Friday.Sarabjeet Kaur is a broken woman. Widowed at 25 years of age, she is now fighting a lone battle of justice against her own in-laws who allegedly “sold” her off to a middle aged man for a paltry sum of Rs 25,000.
