Plan consultative groups dissolved
New Delhi, September 30
The Planning Commission today dissolved all the 19 consultative committees in a bid to end the controversy over the presence of foreign experts from multilateral agencies and global business consultants, which the Left parties claimed as a vindication of their stand.

Militants gun down moderate Hurriyat leader in Srinagar

A leader of the separatist Hurriyat Conference was among six persons killed in stepped-up incidents of violence in the Kashmir valley since yesterday. Unidentified militants shot dead Mohammad Rafiq Shah, a former militant, when they intruded into his house at Chinkral Mohalla here this morning.

Decision on oil prices deferred till Oct 15
New Delhi, September 30
The Manmohan Singh government today asked the oil marketing companies to defer a decision on the revision of retail prices of petrol and diesel till October 15, and directed the public-sector oil firms to share the burden.

EC orders registration of case against suspended SDM

The Election Commission of India today ordered the District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner of Kapurthala, Mr Rakesh Kumar Verma, to get a case registered against the suspended SDM, Mr Dilraj Singh Sandhawalia, under the Representation of Peoples Act 1950.
