New Delhi, September 18
The Congress today clinched seat-sharing agreement with the NCP in Maharashtra for next month’s Assembly elections and announced its candidates for byelections to 13 Assembly and two Lok Sabha seats.
Of the two parliamentary constituencies, the party withdrew nomination of M.P. Singh Chauhan and nominated Ms Suman Chauhan from Mainpuri seat in Uttar Pradesh.
Mr Narsingh Suryavanshi will be party candidate for Bidar Lok Sabha seat in Karnataka.
Of the 13 Assembly seats, the party announced candidates for four constituencies in Gujarat, two each in J&K, Punjab and Rajasthan and one each in Andhra Pradesh, Assam, and Manipur.
The Congress has decided to field Ms Sukhjinder Kaur Rana from Kapurthala and Mr Luv Kumar Goldy from Garhshankar.
For J&K, the party has fielded Ms Kanta Adotra from Basoli and Mr Sham Lal Sharma from Aknoor.
Nominations of all candidates were approved by Sonia Gandhi.
