Hubli, September 10
BJP leader Uma Bharti today set out from here on “Tiranga Yatra” attacking Congress President Sonia Gandhi, the UPA and Left parties and focussing on the triple planks of nationalism, probity and “true” secularism.

Amidst downpour, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha L.K. Advani handed over the National Flag to Ms Bharti whose “yatra” rolled out to the spirited cries of “Vande Mataram” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” by a strong crowd of BJP workers at the Rani Chennamma circle, the starting point.

Mr Advani described “Tiranga Yatra” as a “historic event” and lashed out at the UPA government alleging it has three power centres — “the Prime Minister, Super Prime Minister and the CPM.”

Intermittent drizzle delayed the start of the “yatra” from the venue close to the heavily barricaded Idgah Maidan, where Ms Bharti had tried to hoist the National Flag in 1994 as part of a BJP-led agitation. — PTI
