HPCL suspends Bathinda refinery
To start work only if Punjab clears aid package
New Delhi, August 19
Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has announced the suspension of the Guru Gobind Singh Refinery project in Bathinda district till the clearance of the financial package by the state government, which includes sales tax exemption for 15 years.

Justice Verma for cleansing of judiciary
New Delhi, August 19
Former Chief Justice of India (CJI) J. S. Verma, who has remained the focus of attention, be it due to his bold initiative as NHRC Chairman on the Gujarat riots or forcing the CBI to probe the Jain-Hawala case against top politicians, has now emphasised the need for "cleansing" the judiciary.
