New Delhi, June 4
In a major boost to the Haryana Government, the Supreme Court today directed the Centre to construct the unfinished portion of controversial Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) Canal in the territory of Punjab to facilitate sharing of the Punjab rivers waters between the two states.

Chautala asks Capt to be gracious as Haryana leaders hail verdict
Chandigarh, June 4
Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala today greeted the Supreme Court order on the SYL canal, saying that his father, the late Mr Devi Lal, had a “dream” of seeing the canal functional.

SC stays Rajya Sabha poll process

In a major jolt to political parties’ efforts to accommodate defeated candidates in the Rajya Sabha by nominating them from a state other than where they belonged, the Supreme Court today stayed the election process for filling 65 seats in the Upper House, following a petition challenging the deletion of domicile clause in the Representation of People Act (RPA).
