Cops create chaos in Shatabdi coaches

Lucknow, May 11
Several important trains, including Shatabdi Express, were delayed by hours after police personnel, returning from election duty, forcibly occupied berths in reserved coaches today.

Railways here said the 8511 Up Cochin-Gorakhpur Express was held up at the Charbagh railway station in the state capital as the railway police searched for illegal occupants in the reserved coaches and forced them out.

Sources said the Delhi-Lucknow Swarna-Shatabdi Express also arrived late here by over an hour and a half due to the same reason.

The Bandra-Gorakhpur train was also running late by over nine hours while the Dehra Dun-Delhi Shatabdi Express was held up at the Saharanpur railway station yesterday for a couple of hours because of the chaos created by the police personnel.

It was only after senior police officials intervened that the train was able to head towards Delhi. There were reports of agitated policemen breaking glass windows of the coaches. — UNI
