Geelani, Shah under house arrest

Srinagar, May 5
Chairman of breakaway Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Democratic Freedom Party chief Shabir Ahmad Shah, who had been organising poll-boycott campaign in the Kashmir Valley, were last night put under house arrest in view of the elections.

Official sources said Geelani and Shah were last night put under house arrest at Hyderpora and Rawalpora, respectively.

They had been violating prohibitory orders by holding anti-poll rallies with support of other separatist leaders like JKLF chairman Mohammad Yaseen Malik and People's League head Sheikh Abdul Aziz. — PTI
