Dalhousie has snow, Shimla rain Shimla, May 1 The Lahul valley and Dodra-Kwar area of Shimla district remained cut off from the rest of the state for the fourth day today but light vehicular traffic within the valley was resumed. Efforts were on to clear the Rohtang and Knzam passes, linking the valley with Kaza and Kulu. It was after several years that the tribal areas and other higher reaches had intermittent heavy snowfall during the last week of April. Shimla experienced heavy rain during the past 24 hours while the tourist resorts of Narkanda and Sarahan had hail. A large number of tourists and local people of shivered under intense cold-wave conditions and the normal life was disrupted. Heavy fresh snowfall in higher reaches in Chamba district and Pirpanjal ranges and moderate snowfall in Dalhousie disrupted the telecommunication services. MANDI:
The Mandi region was lashed by the third spell of hail and heavy rain, accompanied by thunderstorm, this evening. Higher reaches of the district, comprising Chachiot and Chuhar valleys, are experiencing heavy snowfall after many years in this part of the year. Unseasonal rain is continuing for the past four days. The temperature this evening plunged to 9.5° Celsius, about 15 degrees below the normal. HAMIRPUR: Normal life in all parts of the district came to a near standstill in the evening as it rained heavily. The entire areas is in the grip of severe cold and people have taken out heavy woollens. |
