EC team to probe Chapra violence
New Delhi, April 29
Even as the Election Commission today decided to send a two-member team to Chapra in Bihar for holding an inquiry into alleged large-scale violence and electoral malpractice, a delegation of NDA leaders met the three-member poll panel to seek deployment of additional Central paramilitary force in Madhepura in Bihar where RJD supremo Laloo Prasad Yadav is contesting against senior JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav.

The police has registered two cases against Union Civil Aviation Minister and BJP candidate from Chapra Rajiv Pratap Rudy and his bodyguards charging them with booth grabbing, indulging in scuffle, theft and intimidating voters during the April 26 poll.

Two criminals shot dead in Delhi
New Delhi, April 29
The Delhi police crime branch today claimed to have shot dead two criminals in an early morning encounter near the Wazirabad area of north Delhi.

Railway Customs authorities at Attari faced a piquant situation today as the 178-strong Pakistani Muslim religious jatha refused to board the train en route to Roorkee (UP) demanding release Mr Mohammed Khalid, a member of the jatha, who was detained for carrying Rs 4,000 in fake Indian currency.
