Priyanka fulfils her filial duty

Rae Bareli, April 26
Ms Priyanka Gandhi, the campaign manager of her mother Sonia Gandhi in this constituency, traversed through the broken and dusty roads, seeing for herself the proceedings on the day of balloting.

The charismatic scion of the Nehru-Gandhi clan, who is staying at Pandey Bhavan in the heart of the city, began her day at the crack of dawn by offering prayers at a temple, seeking divine blessings for her mother.

Clad in a red sari, she came out of the residence and an elderly person applied “tilak” on her forehead. Before sitting in her grey and purple Tata Safari, she had a small interaction with women assembled there and hugged their children.

A battery of mediapersons jostled with one another to get her sound bytes and snaps before her motorcade started on the day’s tour.

She made repeated rounds of polling centres in the Rae Bareli Assembly segment, which is represented by Akhilesh Kumar Singh, against whom she had lodged a complaint with the Election Commission apprehending rigging of polls. — UNI
