New Delhi, April 23
Centre’s interlocutor on Kashmir N.N. Vohra today hinted at the possibility of widening the dialogue process with separatist groups in Jammu and Kashmir and said the third round of talks with the Hurriyat Conference would be held in June this year.
Mr Vohra, who held an hour-long meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr L.K. Advani, here to apprise him of the situation in Kashmir, told newspersons that the dialogue process would have to be widened as the government was committed to hold discussions with all sections of the people in the state.
“We have already held talks with various sections of people in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, including professional groups of doctors and lawyers. Consultations with these sections will be carried forward,” Mr Vohra said.
He categorically mentioned that all political elements would be involved in the dialogue process. Such a process could happen only after the Lok Sabha elections and a new government was installed at the Centre.
On the continuation of dialogue with the Hurriyat Conference, he said the third round of talks with the separatist group would take place in end of June and the dates would be decided after mutual consultation.
About his meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister, he said “I met him after a month. I briefed him about the developments that had taken place during this period.”
Asked if more detainees would be released, Mr Vohra said it was an ongoing process and so far 85 detainees had been released.
