Over 1,000 held in Nepal

Kathmandu, April 10
Over one thousand pro-democracy activists were rounded up by riot police in Nepal today as they marched towards the palace of King Gyanendra on the 10th day of their agitation, defying a government ban on public gatherings in the kingdom’s capital.

The protestors belonging to five main parties in the dissolved parliament gathered in a park outside the palace but were promptly rounded up by police in the wake of a two-day-old ban on public gatherings in Kathmandu. — PTI
