Amritsar, March 28
One of the five gold spades, donated by the Bank of Punjab through its chairman, Mr Darshanbir Singh for ‘kar seva’ of the Golden Temple sarovar has been found missing.

According to SGPC sources, the spade had been missing since the launching of the ‘kar seva’ on March 25. However, officials of the SGPC and representatives of ‘kar seva wale’ were silent on it.

Mr Manjit Singh Calcutta, secretary, SGPC and Baba Amrik Singh, a representative of Baba Jagtar Singh of ‘kar seva wale confirmed the missing of the gold spade.

They claimed that the gold spade might have been buried under iron bowls, used in the kar seva and would be traced shortly. They said that it would take time to clear the iron bowls as their number is about one lakh.

The five gold spades and as many silver bowls were used by ‘Panj Pyaras’ (five beloved ones) including Baba Jagtar Singh, Baba Harbans Singh, Sant Baba Labh Singh, Baba Sewa Singh and Baba Mohinder Singh Birmingham.

However, all five gold spades and five silver bowls, earlier donated by the same Bank for kar seva in 1973 are in tact in the 'toshakhana' of the Golden Temple.
