No voting on daughters’ Bill; NC expels Rashid Dar

Jammu, March 11
Passing of the controversial Bill seeking to deny state subject rights to women marrying outsiders got deferred in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council this evening following a nearly six and a half hours debate as the council Chairman, Mr Abdul Rashid Dar, adjourned the house sine die.

Serial train blasts kill 190 in Spain

Powerful explosions ripped through three busy Madrid train stations today, killing at least 186 commuters and wounding more than 600 in Spain's worst terrorist attack ever. The government blamed the armed Basque separatist group ETA for the explosions.

The controversial sect of Anand Marg, which has been under cloud for various reasons — be it their alleged involvement in the Purlia arms drop case or Lalit Narain Mishra murder case — today suffered a major set back as the Supreme Court ruled that its followers cannot perform ‘Tandav naritya’ with skulls and “trishuls” in public.

In a bizarre incident, a student who was taking ten plus two class final examination at the local SSD Senior Secondary School was allegedly stripped by some teachers on exam duty when he refused to facilitate copying to another student, a ward of a VVIP, from his answer-sheet on March 9.
