Atomic agency summons Pak on Iran N-programme

London/Islamabad, March 4
Pakistan has reportedly been told by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to verify Iran’s claim that traces of highly enriched uranium (HEU) found at its nuclear installations came with the nuclear equipment imported from Pakistan.

Mohammad ElBaradei, the IAEA chief, confirmed that the UN nuclear watchdog had contacted Islamabad in this regard, adding that Pakistan had been told to provide “particle samples” to enable the IAEA to verify Tehran’s explanation. The IAEA demand comes in the wake of weapon grade highly enriched uranium being discovered by IAEA inspectors at the Kalaye Electric Company, near Tehran. — ANI
