Pak to acquire radar systems from USA

Islamabad, February 15
Pakistan has declared its intention to acquire the latest radar systems from the USA.

A news report said the move follows the recent donation of helicopters and fixed wing aircraft by Washington to Pakistan to prevent infiltration along the porous Afghan-Pak border after the easing of US sanctions.

“The recent arms sales to India by the USA have made it indispensible for Pakistan to take necessary matching steps,’’ Dawn quoting the Chief of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Air Marshal Mushaf Ali Mir, reported.

To a question whether the PAF would pitch for AWACS to keep pace with the IAF, Air Marshal Mir said the radar system was produced by only Americans and Swedes and they were still not willing to sell it to Pakistan. — UNI
