Deshmukh‘ helped’ Telgi

Pune, February 10
Former Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh had helped Abdul Karim Telgi in getting stamp vendors licence in 1994, the narco analysis report claimed.

Parts of the report, prepared by Bangalore-based Forensic Science Laboratory, was submitted by the Special Investigation Team probing the scam, to a special court here yesterday.

The report alleged Samajwadi Janata Party MLA Anil Gote and Deshmukh had helped Telgi in getting the licence.

However, his vendors’ licence was cancelled in 1995 due to some allegations made against him, the report said.

The Special Investigation Team had submitted the report to the court yesterday and only parts were available for the media and several names were blanked out on the grounds that the case was of sensitive nature.

Meanwhile, in a significant development in the multi-crore fake stamps paper scam case, the kingpin, Abdul Karim Telgi, has tested positive in the P-300 brain mapping test performed on him to ascertain whether he made payments to former Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, allegedly to seek favours, the Special Investigating Team has claimed.

Bhujbal said today that neither he nor his family members were involved in the scam and the scientific tests were not reliable. — PTI
