Munich, February 8
Senior officials from India and Pakistan today rejected signing the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty but vowed their countries would still fight the spread of nuclear technology and weapons.
“You shouldn’t have any hope that India is going to sign the NPT. That’s not possible,” said Indian National Security Adviser Brajesh Mishra at the annual Munich security conference. This was echoed by Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Mian Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri, who declared: “We will not either.’’
But both Mishra and Kasuri underlined, however, that their countries would make seek to prevent spread of the nuclear technology and weapons. —
