HC seeks replies in Ikwinder
case
Legal Correspondent
New Delhi, February 3
The Delhi High Court today sought replies from the Customs Department, the airport authorities and Thai Airways as to how the body of a Manila-based Punjabi NRI’s wife Ikwinder Kaur was allowed to be flown without proper documents. Seeking their replies, Mr Justice B.N. Chaturvedi also
directed Ikwinder’s father, Karnail Singh, to place before the court a copy of the complaint lodged by him with the police, on the basis of which an FIR was registered by them in the case. Mr Karnail Singh, hailing from Kalson village in Punjab, had alleged that he suspected foul play in the mysterious death of his daughter, who was married to Manila-based NRI Rajinder Singh two years ago. Thai Airways, however, said that the body was transported free of cost as was the provision with the airliner. Denying the allegations of Mr Karnail Singh that the airliner had not cooperated with him, its counsel said all possible help was extended to him.
