A short week-long Parliament session will commence on January 29 and end on February 5.
The Centre has asked the Speaker to convene the Lok Sabha from January 29 and the Rajya Sabha Chairman for reconvening the House on January 30.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj told newspersons
that the interim Budget and the general Vote-on-Account will be presented in the Lok Sabha on February 3 while the Railway vote on account on January 30.
The copies of both budgets would be tabled in the Rajya Sabha the same day. Mr Swaraj said the Lok Sabha would adjourn for the day on January 29 after paying tributes to a sitting member who died during the break. There would be a three-day recess from January 31 to February two.
She said she had spoken to Lok Sabha Speaker Manohar Joshi and Rajya Sabha Chairman Bhairon Singh Shekhawat on the dates and the business for the session.
While the three bills passed by the Rajya Sabha - the foreigners (amendment) Bill, the forward contract Bill and the British statutes (repeal) Bill - would be brought in the Lok Sabha, she said February 5 being a Friday, the day is earmarked for private members’ Business.
The Parliamentary Affairs Minister said the Finance Minister and the Railway Minister would only be making a statement and not a Budget speech as there would be no taxation proposals in the vote-on-account.
She said it would be the second part of the 200th session of the Rajya Sabha and the second part of the 14th session of the 13th Lok Sabha.
